The larger the model, the fewer of them fit on a table. Skirmish plays small and close with detailed rules for UAV, UGV and USV mission specific configurations; Operations plays bigger, with more units, larger formations, supply and reinforcement becomes key..... .....or get both and use them depending on scenario type.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
+Are Skirmish and Operations the same game?
No. They are two separate games sharing one world. Skirmish is built for 10–28 mm miniatures and small-unit actions; Operations is built for 2–10 mm miniatures and bigger battles with HQ, C3, supply and reinforcements.
+Do the two games use the same terms?
Deliberately not. Skirmish talks about the Commander, Real LOS, CVD and Opportunity Fire; Operations talks about C3, Ranges and reactive AA. Each set of rules uses the vocabulary that fits its scale.
+Can I use the same miniatures for both games?
Yes. The drone range is one miniature range: the same STL files cover UAVs, UGVs and USVs, and both games draw on them. The figures are printed at the scale your chosen game needs.
+What do I need besides the rules?
A table to play on, terrain, miniatures, flight-stands of 2 heights, dice, a tape measure in centimetres and miniatures. The rules include Quick Reference Sheets 1, 2 & 3 with unit rosters and CV values, plus a Gaming Aid for the weather forecast. Tokens for Fired, suppression and Dug-in are included in the rules.
+Is there a supplement?
Yes — one for each game. Skirmish Supplement 1: Scenarios brings twenty-one scenarios and was released 14 October 2026. Operations Supplement 1: Combat Enablers brings the card deck and has been available since 8 October 2026. Both are sold on Wargame Vault.
+Where can I buy the rules and the miniatures?
The rules and the STL files are sold on Wargame Vault. The drone bundle and drone packs are also available individually on MyMiniFactory. See the How to buy and Miniatures pages for links.
+How do I reach the designer?
Use the form on the Contact page. Questions, playtesting, submissions and printed-STL enquiries all go straight to the Drone Front inbox.
